reflections

Before cross country, my summers consisted of reading and television.
Then I started xc last year, and then my summers consisted of running, reading, and internet.
(No friend-activities because I'm almost always out of town.)
Now this year has been pretty awesome so far. My summer has consisted of running, traveling, reading, and internet. Lots of each, too.
I haven't done as much running as I want because 1. it's ridiculously hot here in Georgia, so to get any good running in it has to be before 8, and I sleep in. Thus, I use the treadmill. And I hatehatehate treadmills.
Yes yes excuses excuses but I am running xp
And I had Americone Dream on the 4th, and saw awesome fireworks.
And I enjoyed random neighborhood escapades.
And practice the first two weeks when I was in town was pretty awesome.
And I got a car so I won't havta bum people for rides to the CC at 6am next year. :D
So yeah. And then I'll be back in town next week...so I can hang out with folks. Woo.
I really want some Americone Dream right nowww.
D:
I have a tumblr!
And a flickr
and I think the links are on here...Idk
but anyways
so long

sigh

sigh.
college applications are already wearing me down u_u;
It's kinda insane to choose where you want to spend four years of your life. And sucky
I'm looking out of my normal range now
There's oberlin in ohio, which is supposed to be uber-liberal-artsy-hipster-academia-ness.
Sounds good. And they have womb chairs.
There's also kenyon in ohio, which is the middle-of-nowhere-awesome-professors-beautiful-campus one.
And then there's amherst, the one in massachussets which i really know nothing about except it's a liberal arts place and I may be able to visit for free..so it'snot getting kicked off my list yet.
Of course I have to apply to the token public school here..UNC. I just don't think such a big school is for me. I wouldn't die if I had to go there, but it's def. not my top choice.
My safety is UNC-A. It's a public liberal arts...perfect! And it's cheap, and my parents used to teach there, and Asheville is amazing.
There's just something attractive about going to school out of state. It's certainly not the $40,000+ tuition...
u_u;;
Well back to commonapp.org

haha

I've read 4 books in five days X] all the awesome books I talked about in my last post. They were all awesome! I especially loved Elsewhere and Devilish. And Devilish was set in Providence, RI (where Brown is) :o
Now, I have to concentrate on Frankenstein till i finish that and the thematic timeline. (FML.) I'm also looking up scholarships and doing other college-y things. Senior-dom stinks as far as that's concerned -_-;
Well, I'll see you around!

run

Today,
I woke up at 6-ish A.M to go run.
Despite sleeping at around 3 I was glad to be out in the cool...COOL georgia air.
COOL! Ah. What sweet relief.
It was a good run. Yes, my neighborhood is full of awful, awful hills. Yes, I had to look behind a few times because of a bad experience with a dog in my neighborhood when I went running a few years ago...but it was pretty sweet to see the sunrise in front of me, and just come back home and lay in the driveway for a few moments.
:D
I then stretched, showered, watched an episode of Lost, ate cereal, and went back to bed.
Then I woke up, did yardwork, went on facebook, and read.
Then I went to the library and got:
They Boyfriend List and Fly on the Wall by E. Lockhart
Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
and Devilish by Maureen Johnson :]
The Boyfriend List is humorous and intersting so far. I'm almost done...oops.
I then got a cookie, came home, and did some car shopping.
Things are looking good; knock on wood.
Good night!

NEW LAYOUT!

Yayy!
Thanks "dancing sheep"
I adore it. I was sold at the shroom.
Pignons ftw.

second day (late)

yeah, we didn't end up going to the met, the un, or any of that, but we still had a blast. We rode the subway into town, near the empire state building. We went to a restaurant called "Speedy's" which really was speedy. Buffet-style breakfast..and DELICIOUS breakfast (they had quesedillas and muffins and bagels (:) but it was full of businessmen and women. Not that they're rude or anything, it's just not that family-friendly :3 Then we walked for a long time. We saw Macy's, which is huge, and lots of other stores. We went to Greenwich Village. It's amazing..it's really quiet, and there's trees and brownstones and whatnot. And cafes. A french cafe :]
We went to Washington Square and Union Square and Astor Place and yeah all those little parks and squares and stuff. We saw NYU which is pretty cool. It's in a semi-quiet part of town but those don't really exist, I found out. We also went to the strand, which is awesome.
There's so many talented buskers in New York. In a subway station, we listened to an AMAZING electric violinist. I have video from him and several other buskers as well as lots of random footage that I need to upload. URGH.

Then we went to Fifth Avenue! We were downtown for a bit and that was a little not-exciting-at-all but later in the day we went to the uptown part which is the "real" fifth avenue with the designer stores, and the throngs of people. EVERYWHERE.
The apple store was packed. I really wanted to post a video from a macbook :3 but everyone was hogging the macs so we went to F.A.O Schwartz and saw the big piano from.."Big" good movie.
I apologize for the horrendous grammar in this post but I'm doing huge amounts of SAT practice at the moment which I think makes up for my lapse in good grammar.
So after our wonderful New York adventure when we got out of the station at Newark we got lost. Again. NEW JERSEY HIGHWAYS SUCK. At least around Newark. I swear there are 3 different highways all on the same..place..and the ramps are so confusing and they drive really badly.
Yeah, fail.
Well we left that morning and went to visit Brown University in Rhode Island. It has an open curriculum. It's gorgeous.
(I am in love) But it's hard to get into. 10.8% acceptance? *-*
After our adventure in Providence..haha..adventure..(it's really pretty and small and nice weather!) we left for NC. This took about 13-14 hours so we stopped near delaware to sleep and then got home the next day around 5. Then I went to Slay's house for a bit, had birthday cake, and played with sparklers, and watched the shining. Then I went home and crashed.
So those were some of the most...fast-paced days of my life :3 In New York, at least.
I love it.

Roadtrip!! (Day 2)

So today we went into..THE CITY.
Yup.
THE. city. new york!
wwoo.
we took the train for nj and it was crowded.
we got out at penn station into madison square garden and i was like *spaz*ny (i've wanted to come here for ageeesss)
We walked up to Andrew's Coffee Shop for breakfast (which was amazingly cheap and yummy!) and then we went to times square.
they had random seats set up..so we sat. and i took pictures.
then we saw the huge line for broadway tickets and decided we'd do that next time..seeing as we only have 2 days here :/
afterwards we went to the M & M store!! So many M&Ms. And then, we went into Central Park. I went to strawberry fields. There was a guy playing across the universe. It made me sad. Then I bought john lennon pins for my bag at the kiosk closeby, and we went off to the subway. This took us to Battery Park City, near Ground Zero. We visited it. There's construction going on for the memorial and apparently they're building like four more towers along Greenwich Street. Then I saw the Irish Hunger Memorial (it included Ireland's native vegetation!!) and the statue of liberty from battery park. It isn't that big...:0
YAY!
okay next was harlem, and we went to lunch, and it was yummmyyy.
and then we went to the apollo and they had a huge michael jackson memorial and flowers and signage stuff. My mom signed but she apparently wasnt supposed to. Oopss.
Then we went back down to columbus circle. We went into the time warner center, which is a mall, and it had a borders with so many autographed books! some sounded excellent but i didn't havemoney. there was a youtube gathering for 789 at columbus circle so i went to that for like 15 minutes. unfortunately i didn't know anyone :/ like i knew ONE vlogger who was there, and of course all the kids there were NYC natives so yeah awkward. i left that and we went over to the subway to go back to penn station to newark. then we got lost after leaving the newark penn station. I don't understand. Penn station in new york, penn station in newark, and newark and new york are similar. UGGH.
So anyways...yeah nyc is awesome<3

rawwr

Hai. I'm bored at the moment. I'm reading Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson. The character's last name is Martin. And she lives in New York :D
I found it funny.
I recommend it!
I'm also reading the glass castle for school. It's sad, but amazing.
And then, Frankenstein, which I actually...love.
